Question
Hello, I just recently won a Howard Miller Grandfather Clock at an auction.  When putting everything together, it looks as if the rods were broken off from the screws in the rod holder.  One rod was still connected the others were banded up in a bag.  When removing the holder and removing the screws it appears that the rods were once welded onto the screws.  So if that's the case, where can I order new rods, or if that's not the case, how do I connect the rods?

Answer
You have the right idea, i.e. replace the rods.  Make sure they are tuned.  You can purchase your needs from, one of the clock parts houses.  I suggest you go on line to www.merritts.com
this will give you access to the online catalog for Merritt's Antiques.  If you are nhot sure about your needs contact one of Merritt's representatives and explain your problem.  I am sure the rep wil guide you to a correct solution.  Before calling copy down and have available all the information that is stamped upon the clock movements brass backplate.  Regards WJP
