Question
I have a Herschede Grandfathers Clock. I identified it on the rear of the mechanism. I also found the serial number and it is 300xxx which I believes dates it to 1937. I also checked the newspaper inside the weights and it confirmed the 1937 manufacture date. I am trying to find the model number but have not had any luck. Do you know where the model number could be found? Thanks and have a nice day.

Answer
I believe you are correct as to the date of manufacture the clocks serial number has led you to.  There are inaccuracies/inconsistencies prevalent in the known available listings, however the one published by Abbey Clock is recognized to be reasonably accurate.  As far as other manufacturing data is concerned I have always found it stamped upon the movements brass backplate.  Regards WJUP
