This was my fathers watch and I was interested if  you could tell me something about it. My father died in 1965.

Answer
Lavetta,

Is that a family name?  I have never heard that name before.

Illinois Watch Co, Springfield, Illinois
1869-1927
(1928-1950's owned by Hamilton Watch Company)

This watch was made in 1918.  Illinois Watch Co. made great watches and are highly collectible.

It is a piece of artwork as well as a watch.

If you plan to pass it down to someone in your family, consider writing down as much of your father's history as you can.  (birthday, date of death, where he lived, and everything else you can think of) Next, add your history.  That will add to the sentimental value.

Kind regards,

Melvin
