Question
Hi there I recently got an old Illinois Pocket Watch. It does run but when I try to wind it, it moves the hands and sometimes winds the watch. It does this when the stem is not pulled out to set the time. What could be the problem? Thanks in advance

Answer
Having no knowledge as to which one of the millions of Illinois Watch Company movements is involved here I cannot respond to your question.  If you remove the case back you will find the watches serial number.  Copy it down and send it to me.  With that in hand I can identify the exact movement you have and be enabled to respond to the inquiry.  Regards WJP
