Clocks, Watches/stem

Question
Melvin, I just bought a watch with a miyota internal movement. I don't know exactly the model, but I'm trying to pull the stem (crown) and it wont budge. I seen some writing on the back that said push, but there is nothing in that area to push. I tried for hours to figure it out and no result. This particular watch has time, date and stop watch functions on it. Please help!!!!

Answer
Brandon,

You will be pleased to know that this is going to be simple to do once you know what to look for.

First, if you can send a picture of the movement, it might help you if I can tell you exactly where to push (but you may not need to).

Where it reads push, there should be a hole.  Look inside the hole and pull out the crown, then push it back in.  Do this several times.  You will see the detent move.  That is what you are going to push on.  DO NOT PUSH HARD.  You might break it.  Just push lightly using only finger strength.

That is how to take the stem out.  If the crown won't move into the setting positions, you have a different situation.  You will need to look in the setting mechanism for obstructions.

Let me know if you are successful or not and I will try to talk you through it.

Kind regards,

Melvin
