Question
I am having trouble fixing a new cable. When i wind the cable onto the drum it will only wind up about three quarters of the way then the stop comes in so that I cannot fully wind the cable. How do I release the stop so that I can wind the weight to the top.?

Answer
Sounds like the stop works has been improperly assembled. Go to your local library and ask them to find a copy of the book, "The Hermle Service Manual".  In chapter III part B, "Understanding The Stopworks", you will find the information you require.  Regards WJP
