Question
I inherited the Illinois Autocrat with 4864655 inscribed.  I would like to know the year it was made.  This might help me establish a timeline for my Grandfather.  It seems to be in very good shape, and I might pay to have it cleaned and then give it to my son.  I have no idea of its worth to others.

Answer
Sherman,

I am assuming that number is on the movement.  If that is not true, then the information I am giving you is incorrect.

If that is the serial number, you watch was made in 1926, according to the data on

http://www.pocketwatchsite.com/illinoisserials.html

The value is determined largely by the condition so I would not venture a guess as to what it is worth.

Having a watch in working order from one's own great grandfather would have a lot of sentimental value, I would think.

Kind regards,

Melvin
