Question

clock face
We purchased a clock at an auction.  The family says it is about 50 plus years old.  I have attached pictures, on the face of the clock it says Haid on the movement it says
12CM
196

It was stamped into the wood and looks like WS 36 or 8C hard to tell.

Any help in identifying the clock and age of clock would be great.  Thanks

Answer
Haid made the wood case (whoever they were)

Probably Hermle German movement - the exact markings should give info and a date code --can you attach a close up of the back markings on the movement?

50 years is about correct I guess.

In Schmid's 'Lexikon der deutschen Uhrenindustrie' there is a short entry for the firm Wilhelm Haid situated in the town of Pfullingen.

The entry states that the company was known to have used Hermle movements in its clocks and that it does not seem ever to have produced its own movements. Schmid states that the company was active 'around 1965' but does not give definite dates for start or finish.
