Question
I have a Seth Thomas 1812 grandfather clock. The clock will run for a few hours and then stops. Prior to the weight stings being replaced it ran properly. A gear may have been replaced improperly. Your thoughts would be appreciated and a Massachusetts/Connecticut referral for the necessary adjustment would be welcomed.

Answer
I suggest you discus this with a local clock repair person.  To find one, in your area, goto the web site <local.com>  The opening screen of this site will provide you with an entry to providers that can help you.  In the box 'search' enter clock repair into the box titled 'near' enter you community name or the community name you wish services to be rendered in.  Entering that data will provide you with a list of clock repair persons in the area requested.  For me to help you I would need more information.  Like, you intimate the weight cables were replaced and that maybe a gear had been replaced.  My immediate thoughts on this who did this work, and, was he qualified to perform such services. If a gear was replaced, why? and which gear would that be.  It's your option, provide the information I would need or go to the local market place.  Quite frankly there is no real substitute for an on site, qualified, provider.  It sounds like you have a great clock that needs a bit of help.  Regards WJP
