Question
I have a Franz Hermle 78 / 340-020....the clock will sometimes run for a day, sometimes only for a few minutes...I got it from grandma and it has been doing this for several years...mostly it just sits with the wrong time collecting dust but I love hearing those chimes...Thanks for any help.

clock needs cleaning and professional service (assuming the middle winder you are winding up tight and not 1/2 way!)

most are worn out to the point of needing overhaul or replacement after 20-25 years

new movements the same as you have from Hermle cost about 180 + installation

there is also a few rebuilt ones on Ebay for 80

any mechanical clock question -no watches- no battery clock questions and no appraisals-ie: "how much is my clock worth?" type questions please!
