Question
I am trying to get my grandparent's Elgin anniversary clock running again. I believe it is the Elgin/Haller's German Time Bomb clock.
It was doing nothing for many years. Today my  boyfriend has gotten it to work - in the sense that it moves and the pendulum will swing- but the  hands of the clock spin out of control. Any advice ? Are there still places I can bring this clock to be repaired?

Answer
Adjustments to anniversary clocks are very sensitive.  I suggest the verge is out of adjustment.  This is an adjustment best left to those trained to do such work.  Albeit such work can be expensive, they are quite hardy clocks and are prone to run many years without problems.  Regards WJP
