Question
I have a Trend grandfather clock purchased 12/19/79, Style #881WM-306, Move #124BL, another #259/42.(I cannot read all of this)
The clock has operated great until I put the lever on "silence"when we had guest.  When I returned it to "strike", it will keep the correct time but will
not strike nor chime.  Thank You very much for any advice you can give me.   Sincerely, Martha Carter

Answer
Martha, has the clock been serviced on a regular basis?
When was the last time it was lubricated?
Is the movement original?
The chime is probably in a position where one or two hammers are being raised and the movement does not have the power to get going from a dead stop.
If you provide me with answers to the questions I asked above I will have a better understanding of the situation.
Thanks,
Michael
