Clocks, Watches/clock won't stop chiming the hour

Question
I have a mantle clock with a Westminster chime. It works fine but when it gets to 12 o'clock, it continues to chime the hour until the movement runs down. There is no name anywhere on the clock or on the movement. This clock came from my step-father and I was told that he took it to a clock repair shop once but they couldn't fix it. Any suggestions, other than replacing the wind up movement with a battery powered one? Thanks.

Answer
I doubt if it's un-repairable but I would have to see the movement to determine what the problem is and how it might be fixed.
There are levers and pins that control the strike count and make it stop. You could have broken pin or a similar problem.
Most of the controls for the strike are on the front of the movement. The movement would have to come out of the clock and examined by a qualified clock repair person.
