Clocks, Watches/overwound springs

Question
My grandfather clock was working fine until I wound the chimes too tight.  Now they are stuck and won't chime or strike.  How do I repair.  I tried adding pressure on the weights as they were about to strike, but it didn't help.

Answer
First advance the minute hand to the top of any hour. See if you can reach the hammers that strike the rods. Gently lift them back away from the chime rods and see if the gears will start spinning. Let me know if this does not get your clock chiming again.
