Question
clock keeps time but chimes not working -and what are the three key holes for??

Answer
The holes in the dial are present for inserting the winding key over the winding arbors.  As you face the clock left arbor winds the strike train, the center arbor the time train and the right arbor the chime train.  I suspect your clock is not really a Seth Thomas but is a Hermle marked as a Seth Thomas.  In order for me to pursue your question we must first properly identify the clock.  You can do this by opening the back of the clock, copy all the information that is stamper upon the clock movements brass back plate.  With that data I should be able to get the information I need to discuss the problem with the clock.  Regards WJP
