Question
Hello, could you please tell me the manufacture date and if this clock is indeed a Seth Thomas and not a 'stencil' brand?  The back of the clock has "Lynton 2-W, Model E531-000".  The inside of the door (along with the operating instructions) has "E899-156 Iss.3" and a stamped "5913".  The brass mechanics (behind pundulum) has "A205-000" and "5913" engraved.
Also, the chime is about five minutes late.  Is there an adjustment for that?
Thank you for your time.

Answer
From the information provided I have been able to identify your clock as a Hermle model 140-010.  I would need to see the brass back plate of the movement to make further judgement.  As far as the 5 minute error on the chime/time synchronization you will need to reposition the minute hand.  To do this you will have to stop the clock, remove the hand nut and minute hand.  If you inspect the hand you will note that the square hole that position the hand to its shaft is in the form of a brass bushing pressed onto the hand.  Get a file or something else that you can insert into that hole and turn it so that the hand when restored to its shaft points to the correct minute.  Because the connection between the  hand and the bushing is friction in nature, you can do this task quite easily.  It might take you a couple of times to get it precise, but I am sure you will prevail.  Once the correction has been made, restore the hand and nut to their correct position, start the clock and set to correct time.  You are done.  Regards WJP
