QUESTION: Hi.  My husband (US Marine) received a Haller Pocket Watch as a gift.  It was his great grandfather's (US Marine).  I don't have the watch infront of me, but there are numbers engraved in it.  It is identical to the railroad gents pocket watch I saw in this website.  

The watch doesn't work and I had wanted to bring it to the local jeweler but now I'm not so sure I should.  Not sure what this watch is worth and I don't want someone to break it.  I am planning on surprising him on his bday with a working watch.

QUESTION: Actually, I was wrong.  I have the watch in front of me now.  Elgin is the name on the dial.  It opens in the front and back.  The back opens and reads   W.W.C. Co.  14K   US.Assay      832840
