Question I just got a cherry grandmother clock that is marked "The Anniversary, an original by Daneker, Fallston, Maryland" On the back is a handwritten number "A-87" Can you tell me anything about it? Also, when there is a full moon, should the moon on the dial of the clock be straight up in the sky (at the "noon position" on the moon dial) or should it be at some other position? Thanks!!!
Answer Hi Randy! Daneker Clock Co. was owned by Million-Rutherford company. They built excellent clocks from the late 1940's until the factory burned down in 1969. They used mostly Mauthe movements. Their cabinets were top quality, with great finishes. The moon dial shows the moons phases. When it was full on 9/26/07, you should have seen the entire full moon under the number 15 on your clock. If not, you would move it clockwise until it was under the 15 and then for each day past, move it another notch. Today is 2 days past the full moon, so move it 2 notches past the 15. Today would be the 17th day of the Lunar month. In 13 days, it will be the new moon, and it will be in the dark phase. Watch your clock and see if it's working like that. Remember if your clock stops for more than a day you'll have to reset it. Thanks for the question. Cordially Yours, Tom.
