Question
Ken, My Ridgeway grandfather clock (purchased 1984)the left (looking at the face) weight will not hold its position when pulled up.  I don't hear the normal "clicking" as when I pull the other two chains.  Chain is secure in the sprocket.  Thanks.

Answer
your chain wheel ratchet is kapoot (very tech clock term)
At 23 years old the movement itself is past it's life span before needing serious overhaul or replacement(bestidea)
I do not know if you would entertain trying to repair it yourself? (movement would have to be removed from case) Would need all the markings on the rear brass plate to id the movement.
