Clocks, Watches/Gransfather Clock Chain

Question
After reading your reply to another question regarding chains, I'm guessing we're in trouble.  During a recent move of a Grandfather clock due to a death in the family, one of the chains came completely off.  (My fault, I'll take the blame -- it was a difficult move.)  Since my 16 year-old niece wanted the clock and she lives in another state, I don't have the clock specifics here with me.  I believe it's a Ridgeway, perhaps 60 years old. I know that doesn't help you much.  What I'm wondering is if there's any chance we might be able to reattach the chain ourselves (all efforts so far have failed), or is this a job for a professional?

Answer
which chain of the three is off? what are the markings on the back of the brass plate of the mechanism? what access do you have to the mechanism? ie. back door panel- two side doors or panels to the top - or the top come off entirely?
more info and perhaps can help.
