Question
I read your response to someone about a Herman Miller Case containing a Hermle Floating Balance movement.  I have the same clock (Herman Miller #612-724 on the case and 340-020 on the movement).  I would like to replace the movement myself, and would appreciate knowing where to acquire it, along with any other advice you might have about installing it.  If you think I shouldn't attempt installation myself, I would like to know that also.   Thanks.....

Answer
You can obtain a replacement movement from Butterworth Clocks a Muscutin, Iowa.  Marc is available on the web at <butterworthclocks.com>
As long as you are contemplating changing the movement give some thought to going the 341-020 movement.  The only difference between the two is that the 340 has a floating balance and the 341 has a pendulum.  My reasoning for this is servicing.  Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there servicing clocks who, through lack of training, simply do not understand the floating balance, and, are prone to create havoc rather than solution.
I would not think you would have any problem making the movement exchange yourself.  In the event you should have a problem, tell me about it and I will offer you assistance.
