Clocks, Watches/Hamilton 340-020 adjust after cleaning

Question
Hi William
This clock sat 10 years without running. I cleaned it several times with Chemtronics Tun-o-wash, then lubed it
with LPS #1 greaseless lubricant. This movement has the
floating balance wheel with vertical spiral spring. It now
loses about 5 min./24 hrs. Is the lubricant causing this
or does it need adjustment? How is the adjustment made?

                                      Thanks

Answer
Even though the movement is marked Hamilton it was made by Hermle 340-020.  Instructions for servicing the Hermle floating balance can be found at <http://home.earthlink.net/~atmosman/earthftp.html>  seek out and click item 50 "Hermle floating balance______".
I have never heard of the products you name for cleaning and lubricating time keeping devices, I wonder if they are appropriate.  I trust you removed the springs and floating balance before cleaning.  If not you are probably in a whole heep of trouble.  One should never lubricate a Hermle floating balance, the key to their operating is cleanliness and being dry.  I trust the foregoing is helpful, WJP
