Clocks, Watches/Hamilton Gladwyn- balance wheel malfunction

Question
Hi,
I have a 70's Hamilton 'Gladwyn' mantel clock with a balance wheel mechanism. Upon returning from vacation it was not working and the mainspring was wound tight. The balance wheel spring thingee (sorry for the tech talk) looks like it has been deformed, but I can't see that it has become detached from its mounts. I can't remember how it's supposed to look and function. If I could attach a photo of the mechanism you would easily diagnose the problem. Is there a way I can e-mail you a shot of it?
Thank you,
Larry

Answer
unless someone has got inside it and actually manually mangled it --it is fine! Give the clock a violent twist left and right and it should start up fine.

any mechanical clock question -no watches- no battery clock questions and no appraisals-ie: "how much is my clock worth?" type questions please! Attach a photo if possible and note all markings on the rear of the mechanism- thanks 40 years as a professional clock repair person- still a full time clock repair service owner
