QuestionQUESTION: Hi... This clock seems to be chiming off by five minutes... It had been stopped, I rewound and set the clock at 9:51 am. It rang properly (I think, I didn't count the number of chimes) at 10am. At 11am, it didn't chime, but it did chime the hour (maybe, once again, didn't count the chimes) at 11:05am. How do I correct this to chime at the hour?
Lisa
ANSWER: Lisa; I need to know exactly what it is or is not doing in order to try to figure out the problem.

QUESTION: ok... glad you asked, got different problems now. At 12:05pm, it chimed 5 chimes... I reset it by going to 5 o'clock and then returning it to 12:05pm. At 1:05, it chimed once. At 2:05, it chimed twice... I'm thinking we're good, except for the fact that it is chiming at 5 past. Unfortunately, starting at 3:05pm, it has failed to chime on the "hour". It still chimes on the half hour (right on time). So, it just chimed 4:30pm, but it didn't chime at 3 or 4 at all, not even five minutes past. It seems to be keeping good time... it just is chiming off or not at all.
AnswerLisa: the 5 after is the collet with the square hole in the center of the minute hand--needs adjusting --pliars to hold while turning hand--or suitable square shaft to hold collet while turning hand.
The "not at all" chiming is a bigger, internal problem that could be an adjustment of the lifting levers that trip the chime or a complete overhaul needed- see a pro on this problem --do we know who made the movement? Typical info is stamped on the back brass plate of the mechanism>>>
