Question
I recently purchased a Grandmother Clock with a 74 Franz Hermle, 451-053, 85 cm/70.77 movement and I have a few questions.
1.  My pendulum is 28 1/4" (tip to tip) long with a 4 1/2" bob.  Is this correct?
2.  Where does the heaviest weight hang?
3.  The left weight hangs from the left side of its gear while the center and right hang from the right side of the gear.  Is this correct?
Thank you for your time.

Answer
One of the questions you ask is answered by the data you provided.  The 85cm/70.77 says the clock's pendulum is 85cm long and the clock beats at a rate 70.77 beats per minute.  As to where the heaviest weight is hung, as you face the clock, it hangs to your right.  This is the chime train and since it does the most work, from a standing start, it requires greater weight to get it going.  As to how the weights hang, your set up is correct.  Regards WJP
