Clocks, Watches/Inherited Howard Miller Wall Clock is very loud

Question
I inherited a wall clock from my grandmother when she sold her house. It is a Howard Miller and it most resembles the Lancaster model that I found on the Howard Miller website. It is a nice addition to my home, but it chimes/striker VERY loudly.

I have seen some other posts suggesting to bend the rods, but I am nervous to try that. Is there a low risk way to quiet the clock chiming/striking?

Answer
Jim: you are fortunate - 98% of the complaints are about the chimes not being loud enough! If you can get to the spot where the hammer heads hit the chime rods - try putting one or more strips of plastic electrical tape at the top of the row of rod where the hammer heads hit--build it up till you can stand the volume that remains.
