Clocks, Watches/Linden Battery Operated Pendulum Strike Wall Clock

Question
I received  the above clock - manufactured by Linden Division - Cookoo Clock Manufacturing Co, Inc.  32-40 West 25 St,  NY, NY   as a wedding gift 20 years ago from a now deceased relative - so it has great sentimental value.  It no longer keeps time  and the pendulum stops after a few minutues.  I have change the battery , rehung the clock ( making sure if was 100% level )  even sprayed the gears with WD-40.  Appears the manufacturer is no longer in business.   Any suggestions ?   Are repair parts still available for this clock ?  Suggestions for finding an authorized repair center - or if this is not possible -  a reputable repair center in Northern New Jersey.  Thanks a bunch

Answer
Hi Steve,
I haven't been able to find definitive information on either Linden or Cuckoo Clock Mfg. Co. Linden clocks are still available from many retailers, and a call to one might help you find a factory contact. I come across Cuckoo Clock Mfg. Co. movements frequently, but again I can't find any information on them at this time. I have an inquiry in to AWCI, and possibly that will yield some results.
Battery powered movements are almost never repairable. The remedy is to replace the entire movement. But there are many different battery movements, and only generic ones are available from clock materials houses, so it can be difficult to find the exact movement. Many times it is possible to use or adapt a generic movement in a clock. The chime sound is often different from the original.
To find a repair center in your area, I would go to www.awci.com and use their Referral Directory.
    Thanks for your question.   Martin
