Clocks, Watches/Linden
Expert: Kenneth Saunders - 5/8/2007
QuestionQUESTION: I recently purchased an antique clock. It is chain driven. It is a Linden clock from West Germany. My question is, are Linden clocks made anywhere else and where could I find more information on this particular clock.
ANSWER: Kim: are there any numbers or markings on the rear brass plate of the mechanism? I have never seen a Linden with a movement made by them. Kinda like Howard Miller is not a clock movement maker either. Never seen an "antique" Linden clock either (100+ years old) Might be the first. No clue for historical info.

QUESTION: I found some numbers: M120M-54 Cuckoo Clock MFG INC. Germany. Hope this helps.
AnswerSorry I can not give you any info --the numbers are not known to me --Cuckoo Clock MFG INC made the movement - no info at hand on them either --sorry.
another expert on this web site said:"Your clock is probably one manufactured in Germany for Linden Clocks which currently is a subsidiary of Seth Thomas; however, at one time Linden was a standalone company that used the Cuckoo Clock Mfg company of New York City as its supplier. These clocks were sold by Sears & Roebuck and other major retailers in the USA. AMS was the German factory that made the movement"
I think he has it wrong--Seth Thomas clocks are now made by Linden!
