Question
Hi Ken,
I recently purchased a howard miller clock with the Hermle 340-020 movement in it.  It is running slow by a few minutes every other day.  Can you please tell me how to adjust it.  I read a similar post on here but am not sure what screw i need to turn. I see a screw to the left of the plus and a screw to the right of the minus on the backplate. Are these the ones that need adjustment.  If your not familiar with this movement you can look on the following page for a pic (Pic 2 of 4).  Thanks again for any help you can provide.

Answer
Dwayne: You must have an older clock with the "floating balance". The wheel that rotates side to side is hung off the bottom of a spiral coiled spring that hangs from the top of the little silver assembly. The screws you are talking about do not adjust anything but only hold the floating balance onto the brass part of the mechanism-do not touch them. If you hold the rim of the wheel from turning with your finger, take a pencil and rotate the three pronged assembly that sits on top of the wheel to the right to speed up the clock. Your pic page did not make it thru cyberspace.
