Question
Hello,

I recently purchased a Mason & Sullivan Clock at a consignment store.  It is lovely.  The information on the movement reads....
Mason & Sullivan Co
TW( (2) jcwfls
unadjusted
Made In West Germany
140-070

I was wondering if you could tell me anything about it?  I have done a little research on line.  There really isn't much information about the Mason & Sullivan Company at all.  The clock has 2 places to wind and chimes on the half and the hour.  There are lions head handles on either side.  Could this be a Hermle movement?  Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much.

Barbara

Answer
Mason & Sullivan had a factory on Cape Cod Ma where they sold woodworker's supplies - clock plans and kits and specialty lumber to make the kits. The movement is one made for them by Hermle and that is the presnt day number for the Hermle movement should you ever want parts or a new movement. Most had the date of manufacture also stamped on the back brass plate. The two jewels are in the upper and lower ends of the assembly that spins back and forth.
