Question
I have a problem with a Phinney Walker Alarm Clock.  It Will only continue to run when it is tilted slightly forward.  I am mechanical....  Is there anything I can do myself?

Answer
Stan- that is a sign of needing cleaning, lubrication and some wear problems or all three. You can take it to a pro or try yourself. If you can remove the hands and dial and take the movement out- probably an auto spray cleaner on the gearing - like carb cleaner or brake parts cleaner or the like- then a fine thin oil applied with a toothpick to the ends of all the shafts sparingly - especially the ends of the oscillating balance wheel shaft. Then try it --if not to the pro if it is worth the money. Or put a block under the back so it is tilted slightly forward!
