Clocks, Watches/Rods or tubes

Question
I am currently looking to purchase a new grandfathers clock.
The tubular movements (which I would like to purchase) are quite a bit more expensive. Since there are no clock dealers in this area, are there any benefits to the extra money?
Is the sound quality better or is it simply the manufacturing cost?

Answer
no benefits. purely a matter of taste. I do not prefer the sound of tubes, personally. The cases for the tube movements must be larger and the movements cost twice as much as the rod movements, that is why the price is higher. Upkeep on the tubular movements is much higher. They are more complicated, cannot be easily removed from the case for service and moving them is a problem. Service people generally charge a lot more to service them.
Of course, I would not buy a NEW grandfathers clock in the first place! http://cgi.ebay.com/18C-English-Mahog-Grandfather-Clock-Tall-Case-Clock_W0QQitem...
