Question
we don't know how to get the 35-40 year old pearl grandfather clock started.  we have the weights hung correctly, we pulled on the chains, and swung the pendulum.  no luck. please help.

Answer
I will need more information if I am to help you.  First of all when you cause the pendulum to swing does it tick at all?  If so what does it sound like?  Have you leveled the clock to all directions?  How long has it been since the clock has ran?  Has it been moved?  Most importantly would be for you to copy down and send me all the information stamped upon the clocks back-plate.  With that information I might be able to locate an exploded view of the movement, which I would send you.  That would permit me to walk you through proper corrections.  Since all expert software does not support attachments you would have to send me your e-mail address in order for me to send the exploded view.  <flashpowder@hotmail.com>  use Pearl Grandfather Clock as subject.  Regards WJP
