Question

Hi Kenneth
A beautiful old clock with a Westminster Chime recently came into my possession. It has three winding key slots. I wound it up and it went perfect. now the chime has slowed and i don't know which of the three slots to wind to get it up to speed again.
I am afraid of over winding the clock mechanism by mistake.
Can you help?
Many thanks in advance  David.

Answer
When new it was an "8 day" clock or wind it once a week with a days' grace. You cannot overwind it. Left is the hour strike --right is the quarter chime and center keeps it ticking. Wind it twice a week if you wish or daily --the clock could care less.
