Question
I have a 20yr old Ridgeway  granfather clock IT chimes every 15 minutes But GONGES 15 minutes late on the hr,  keeps good time, thanks EXP  IT gonges 12 times at 12.15 ??????????

Answer
Somehow your time keeping and chime has gotten out of synch.  Perhaps by turning the minute hand backwards during a reset.  I would expect a 20 year old Ridgeway to have an automatic reset.  Apparently your clock does not have this feature so you will have to manually correct.  You do this by removing the hand nut and the minute hand, in this case you would reposition the hand at a position 15 minutes earlier than it was before removing.  For example at 12:15 the clock announces it is 12:00.  You simply remove the hand and put it at the 12:00 position.  That done you will need to reset the clock by moving the inplace minute hand to 12:15.  This should do you.  Incidentally, since your clock does not automatically synchronize itself, always move the minute hand forward and always allow the clock to complete its chiming before moving to the next quarter.  If you need to back up the time setting simply stop the clock for the required time or even a bit more so that you can reset the clock by moving the minute hand forward.  If, on the other hand your clock does have the automatic synch feature, but is not functioning, the clock need cleaning.  Regards WJP
