Clocks, Watches/does my grandfather clock need a chain or cable

Question
Hi John - Recently my father gave me his grandfather clock which has a Block Forest movement. Part no. on the back is 1161-853BS. Upon unpacking it from the crate, it appears he left something out - the supports (chain or cable) for the three weights (for hour, minute, and second?). The clock appears to take cables that turn on three pulleys, that would, I'm thinking, have hooks of some sort to hold the weights. The manual doesn't help here. Thanks for the assist. If you know of any websites where I could get further info, that would be helpful also.

Answer
Your clock is cable driven.  It is possible the cables have been totally wound under their plastic sheilds.  Regardless of that the cables have to hang well below the seat board in order to affix the pulleys and to hook the free end of the cable under the movement.  I would suggest you relegate this chore to a qualified clock mechanic.  I don't know of a web site that would help you in this matter.  Regards WJP
