Question
I have a Seth Thomas grandfather clock mo.# 4522,this clock is about 20 years old, keeps perfect time, and has never had a problem, however the chimes and strikes have been getting progressively louder within the last year,i have tried all three chime settings to no avail.any help would be great. One more item,I also have a mantel clock about 75 years old that worked perfect until I went to wind it one day and discovered the key would not turn either winder,to tight? my kids denied winding it.thanks for your help.

Answer
no fix I know of for your loud clock- never in 35 years have I heard of such happening actually - maybe your hearing is improving? Most complaints want it loudr as the hearing fails with old age!

try winding it the opposite way. And if it is running and doesn't need winding, you do not yet have a problem.
