The text above is a follow-up to ...
what type of weights can i add to chain?
-----Question-----
After the cuckoo cuckoos the music plays sometimes , at other times i pull om the chain a bit and it'll play for a while and then stop again. What can i do to fix this.  Music plays on the hour. I live in a rural area and there is not a place i can take it to. Appreciate any help.
-----Answer-----
maybe a duplicate reply--but the music box governor is probably worn badly. Need a pro to fix but adding more weight to the chain that powers the music might keep it going a while more.

Answer
Something about 1" to 1.5" diameter, cylindrical and with a 1/4" or so hole down the middle would be ideal. A lot depends on how fussy with the looks you are. A stack of 3/4' or 1" steel nuts above the weight on the chain would work. Be imaginative and try stuff. You can send away and buy a larger cuckoo weight. They come in 15 different sizes, but you would have to know the size needed and drop $20 or so on the purchase. Adding only 4 to 6 oz. hopefully is all that is needed. If the music works- stop adding weight!
