Question
I was gifted a regulator clock with no brand name, but made
in Korea. The hourly chimes are too loud. How can I soften
the sound as they are much too loud?

Answer
Sandy:  Make sure there is about a 3/16 space between the hammer and the coiled gong when at rest. Then on the coiled gong where the hammer hits it place 1/2 postage stamp size pieces of plastic electrical tape and build it up till you like the sound.
