Question
bill, i purchased this clock about 3 years ago on ebay fron a gentleman in ill. after reading Q&A on allexperts i found out about the code on the bottom of the clock, which is stamped sparta & 1901, but the clockworks does not have the excapement on the outside back as shone on one you have in clock info.com could this mech. have been changed out or did they go to the #89 mid way through the year 1901? thanks far all the good info. chuck brackenbury   brackroper@wyoming.com

Answer
My reference materials give production dates for the Sparta as being from 1904 through 1910.  Looking through my shop notes I find all those I serviced used the 89C movement.  The pendulum and escapement are on the back of these movements.  I'm sorry I cannot be more definitive in my response.  Regards WJP
