Question
Hi please can you help me i am thinking of buying Sligh [model name windsor]floor clock. The model number is 840-4-an triple chime and cable driven. Please can you tell me what movement would have been in it and any other information you can tell me the clock is about 7 years old.

Answer
Hi Robert,
I can't tell you what the movement is from the Sligh model number, but I could identify it from the numbers on the back of the movement.
Sligh is out of the clock business, and factory support is no longer available. The movements, however, are available and serviceable. Sligh was, in my personal opinion, the best of the American longcase clocks, with very nice cabinetry and finish. Unless you need a dial or original pendulum, service should be no problem.
