Clocks, Watches/speed of chimes

Question
Our grandfather clock chimes very fast.  It strikes the hour too quickly, too, for our liking.  Is there a way to adjust the pace of the strike and chime?

Answer
DEPENDS ON THE MECHANISM-- the back brass plate of the mechanism will have info to help answer this. MOST however no not have adjustments. Rarely the mechanism becomes loose in a critical part and give a very fast strike or chime - not both as they would both have to become loose. Make sure the weights are on correctly the heaviest on the right as you face the clock and the next heaviest in the center. I assume these are proper and original weights as well and no one has added weight to them inside?
