Clocks, Watches/wall clock has stopped chiming

Question
My Howard Miller wall clock has stopped chiming and I don't know why.  It is supposed to strike on the hour and half hour.  I should mention that I have been having a problem with the hands falling off; evidently the nut or whatever that holds them on the pin or whatever it is called fell off and is gone forever.  I'm not near a clock shop where I could get another one.  Nevertheless, I stuck them back on and had figured out how to position them so that the clock struck correctly.  But now I don't hear it chime at all.  Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
this is a two winder clock I take it? not striking-- make sure it is wound up on the left side. two winder clocks do NOT chime -- they strike on the hour and 1/2 hour. failure to strike has nothing to do with the hands - you need professional clock help internally.
