Question
i just received one of these clocks because it was wound too tight. i took the mechanism out of the housing and can see the spring winding up, so its not stuck, but the clock doesnt run. Do you have any suggestions on what else i can check?

Answer
From your description it would appear the springs are trying to deliver power to the gears of their trains.  Since delivery does not occur their has to be a substantial force prohibiting action.  My guess would be, dirt or damaged parts or both.  I suggest you have the clock cleaned and repaired.  Regards WJP
