Question
Please help, my sister has a cockatiel and she says it lays eggs, she bought it as a male and is convinced its male, but surely males cannot lay eggs, se says he is really moody ans after a few weeks they remove the eggs and he is fine, I think its about 6 years old!

Answer
Lynn,

It's very funny that your sister still believes that her cockatiel is a male!  If there is anything that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that a bird is a female is when it lays eggs.  The ability to lay eggs is what makes a bird a female, so by definition her cockatiel must be female, even if in all other ways (behavior, coloring) it appears to be a male.
