QUESTION: She just smells like a dirty dog.  I feed her Eckaneba. As far shampoos I have tried shampoo and conditioner from the vet , baby shampoo and many from the pet store.  I have also used animal cologne

Answer
Okay - I think you should change her food.  I highly recommend Canidae canned and think she'd do better with no kibble.  The reason is kibble is too high in carbs (50%) as opposed to a premium canned food (8%).  Go to Canidae.com to find a dealer - or PetSmart now carries AvoDerm. Switch her over slowly by adding a bit more of the new food each day.

Now - bathing.  Use an oatmeal based dog shampoo - rinse her extremely well - and I mean when you think you've rinsed enough - rinse 10 more times.  Then give her a final rinse of 1/2 water and 1/2 white vinegar.

Don't worry - the vinegar smell dissipates very quickly.
Just mix it in a container and pour over her - avoiding her head - you don't want this in her eyes.

Try that and a food change and let me know if it helps.

Health, nutrition, training. Please note: I used to highly recommend Innova products but, unfortunately, as with Canidae, they have sold out to Proctor & Gamble. This guarantees lower quality to a dangerous point so I will no longer be advising anyone to buy it.
