Cocker Spaniels/eyes

Question
I "dog-sit" an 8 month old English cocker spaniel.  I wonder why his eyes are bloodshot.  Is this normal?

Answer
No, it's not normal and the owners should take him to a vet opthalmologist.  Have you asked them whether their family vet has taken a look at this?

There's a product (eye drops) called Genteal which is safe for dogs and might be worth trying.  Most drugstores/supermarkets carry it.
I'd get the 'Moderate' solution and use it 4 to 5 times a day.

It would be unusual for a dog this young to have a serious eye problem but this most definitely should be addressed.

If you have trouble getting the drops in, let me know and I'll tell you how to do it.
