Question
Hi we have a lovely 18 week old Cocker pup called Alfie, I am currently feeding him James Wellbeloved puppy food, about 240 per day slip into 3 meals, he seems to love it,but I keep hearing that this is an expensive way yot feed him and I should put him ona cheaper variety Healthy Options as its just the same as premium.

Firstly I am worried I am not feeding the correct amount, secondly when to move up a stage, and also he does tend to get bad wind!!

Answer
I can tell you're in the UK and unfortunately I can't advise on either food unless I know what's in it.  I do know James WB is considered a premium food so I will tell you not to save money when it comes to nutrition.  It's the key to health and Alfie is still in a massive growth spurt and needs the best food you can find.

You obviously have some James WB - what are the ingredients listed on the label.  If you can give me the ingredients in Healthy Options I can certainly give you an opinion

Feeding 3x daily is a good idea and at his age don't worry too much about overfeeding.  Personally I don't believe in "puppy food" and at his age he can go to adult food.

He may be getting gas because you're using kibble which is much higher in carbs than canned.  I don't know if James WB makes canned and I have no idea what's available to you there to suggest anything.

If you can check what's available in canned - I can probably investigate the foods online and make a recommendation.
