Cocker Spaniels - jumping

Expert: Delores Beck - 10/30/2009

Question
I have a 7-1/2 month old cockapoo.  Her shoulder is approximately 13" high, yet last night she leaped onto my bed which is 30" off the ground.  I was amazed that she could leap -- without a running start -- more than twice her height.  I think I remember hearing that cocker spaniels are good jumpers.  Is that true?

Answer
Most dogs could manage that jump and she's very young and full of energy.

Usually if they can (on hind legs) reach a surface with their paws - they can jump on it easily.

Now just keep her that way with a premium diet and lots of exercise! :)
