Cocker Spaniels - 15 1/2 yr old Cocker Spaniel with intestinal issues, as well as several others

Question
Hi,
My baby, Daisy, is 15 1/2 years old. She has been to the vet so much in the past few months. She started having a bloody stools, often just liquid, then blood drops come at the end (and it's wet blood, not dried). She has had blood tests and a few others, I'll have to get my paperwork to see what all has been checked. She is on Thyroid medicine. She just started taking Rimadyl to help with her arthritis. My main issue/question is what makes her stomach get upset to have bloody loose stools? The vet (there are 3 in one office that have all seen her) thinks it may be Colitis. She was put on Prescription Science Diet I/D and some probiotic live bacteria powder and anti-diarrhea meds. She stopped eating the I/D and so they switched her to Z/D about a week ago. She did seem to eat that well until she started having diarrhea again. Her loose stools seem to come and go for no reason. I can hear her stomach rumbling, like she is gassy. She seems like she doesn't feel good. She is not eating hardly at all this week and has been have loose bloody stools since Sunday. Any ideas what could be causing this on and off again? I've read that you really recommend Innova food, any certain type you think would work well for her? I just want her to feel better. She has a number of other issues with warts and recently had a skin abscess issue but did ok on antibiotics for that. That's another story in itself. Thanks so much.

Answer
First, get her off Rimadyl.  This could be causing a ton of problems.  Think back - did this start with the Rimadyl?

You don't say how long this has been going on.  But I'd certainly try the following:

Scramble 3 eggs (use no oil or milk)
1 cup cooked plain white rice - use extra water and overcook.
Mix together well.

Serve her multiple small meals a day..5 or 6 if you can.  That will at least help settle her tummy.  Keep this refrigerated between snacks but never serve cold.

Sounds to me like she needs to continue the anti-diarreah med (was it Flagyl?)

have you called your vet since this began on Sunday?  Definitely do that.  It can't at all hurt to try the egg & rice - this is the single most digestible meal for dogs who have digestive problems.  Small amounts are key.
